Friday Link Round-Up: Campus Sexual Assault News

Students at Montana State University held a rally to raise awareness about the “Red Zone,” the phenomenon of heightened rates of sexual assault during the first 6 weeks of school.

Towson University is working toward improving its sexual assault policy, starting with an anonymous, online survey which will collect important data from current students and alumni who experienced sexual assault or know someone who experienced sexual assault.

Drake University has hired a sexual violence response and healthy relationship promotion coordinator.

After the controversy surrounding campus sexual assault cases and the criminal justice system last semester, Marquette University officials utilized the summer months to revise the school’s sexual assault policy. Unfortunately, it appears as though administrators revamped the policy without student involvement.

Researchers at the University of Texas at Austin recently conducted a statewide needs assessment focused on adult survivors of sexual assault and found that, unsurprisingly, sexual violence programming lacks funding.

Last but certainly not least, students at McGill and Concordia have organized a panel and workshop on student-led anti-rape movements featuring some of my amazing colleagues at SAFER on September 24!
