My cast has charisma!

I asked the organizers of our V-Day sponsors to tell us a little bit about how they got involved in V-Day and their favorite parts of performing the Vagina Monologues this year. Kate Salvia from Manhattanville College had this to say:

I was assistant director of the VagMos last year and I was fortunate to have the show passed down to me, it was an amazing experience and I’d do it a million times over just to have that feeling of the standing ovation and tears of joy for the hard work/saddness because it is all over on closing night. I loved how creative my cast and crew were, I never wanted it to be “I’m the director, this is my show and we’re going to do what I say.” I wanted everyone to give their input and creativity as my cast’s charisma is half the reason I chose them. One of my favorite memories was the second rehearsal we had, and we had just begun to warm up to each other. I told the girls about being contacted by SAFER and wanting to support the cause as it hit close to home. After I shared my story we all began crying and sharing our stories. It was at that moment that I know this show and cast were going to be a success.

Thanks again to Kate and the fantastic Manhattanville cast and crew, who definitely did have charisma.

Vaginas make me laugh…and cry

I just got back from an amazing performance of The Vagina Monologues at Manhattanville College. The show organizers are generously donating the proceeds to support SAFER’s work.

I’ve seen the play five times. It never fails to move me. I never fail to laugh my ass off and cry, cry, cry. Every time, it’s different. The performers at Manhattanville really made it their own. I was impressed with their bravery, their authenticity (difficult when you’re ready someone else’s words, or performing someone else’s orgasm), and their obvious commitment to what the play means.

There are performances going on all over through March. Go, bring a loved one, go. Then go again.

Congratulations again to the folks at Manhattanvile, with our gratitude:
