No Better Headline?

Jeez, CNN.

This was the actual headline they gave a story about the horrific stoning of a rape victim in Somalia:

Amnesty: Rape girl, 13, killed for adultery

Rape girl?

I don’t even have the energy to delve into the psychology of a headline that makes a rape victim sound like a circus act of some kind.

I’m off to take care of homework and make some phone calls for my candidate. Posting will be heavier after the election.

That’s utterly disgusting. And yes, indicative of a world too conditioned to hating women.

I was horrified, saddened and deeply angered by what I read (in connection with this appalling series of events)and all before I got to the actual report itself!!! Really CNN, – “rape girl”??? – SHAME ON YOU!!! This poor child suffered ordeal upon ordeal. She was gang-raped,villified, arrested and sentenced to a terrifying and very public death. The least a responsible and for me anyway, FORMERLY respected/respectable news agency should have done was to treat this child and her family with sobriety and compassion. Even in death she is treated without dignity. Your headline was at best dismissive and at worst contemptuous and deeply, deeply offensive to all right-thinking men and women. CNN owes the family of this little girl and indeed, females everywhere an apology…….How’s THAT for CNN HEADLINE NEWS??
