Tucker Max is on Your Bus

» by Sarah M in: Media

UPDATE: The CTA is removing the “blind girl” and “deaf girl” ads from Chicago buses. Kate Harding has more on this at Broadsheet. Of course, the stripper ads get to stay up because who cares about insulting people who do sex work, right?!?!?!?! Nice. Original post below.

I’m almost inclined to apologize for all of the Max related posts as of late, but this one comes by request: a concerned resident of Chicago has alerted me to the promotional ads for Max’s film running on the side of some Chicago buses.

A columnist for the Chicago Tribune has also spotted a bus ad that says, “Deaf Girls Can’t Hear You Coming.”

I’m not even going to bother explaining AGAIN why Max’s messages are horrendous [even though, these ads takes it to an even more horrifying level by...I don't even know? Is this really a joke about assaulting blind and deaf women? Can he really be that derranged? I get the double entendre but...holy shit]. But this is different from the film or his in-person speeches—you can always just choose not to attend those. These ads are being forced on the public because the Chicago Transit Authority approved them. You can contact the CTA here.

Sarah, do you have any advice or a template for our complaints? I want to make sure mine counts.

Get of your high horse. One word SATIRE. Don’t you have better things to do, like stopping CONVICTED rapist from repeating their offensives or aiding to prevent rape. Stop wasting everyone’s time who things that this cause is just and get back to the real reason why this group was formed.

@Chris, I would usually choose not to publish your comment, but I would really like to know what these ads are a satire of.
