Please join us in the screening of the documentary It was rape.
Monday, February 25, 6-8 PM
Wollman Hall, 65 West 11th Street, Room 500
Rape is wrong, illegal, reprehensible—but still tragically common. In this film, 8 women recount their experience with sexual assault—from a Midwestern teenager trying alcohol for the first time to a Native American woman gradually coming to terms with her abusive childhood.
The result is an opportunity to empathize with people—not just absorb statistics—and, perhaps, to puncture some of the silence and denial that allows sexual assault to thrive. There will be a Q and A with director (and former Lang professor) Jennifer Baumgardner after the screening.
Co-sponsored by Gender Studies, The First -Year Writing Program, Student Health Services and the Office of Civic Engagement and Social Justice at Lang.
Check out the It was Rape Flyer for more information on the event.
